This file gives a brief intro to the contents of demand.dta which contains the data to estimate a supply demand system for domestic maple syrup.

The variables are.
state - lists one of 10 syrup maple producing u.s. states.
year - year of the data
production - thousands of agallons produced in that state year.
price - average price for that state production year
daysmin32 - number of days (Dec-Mar) with a minimum temp <32 F.
precip - four month (Dec-Mar) winter precipitation in inches
avg temp - mean February temperature
price _lb_sugar - price of a lb of sugar in cents (note two regions have distinct timeseries)
price lb corn syrup - price of a lb of corn syrup in cents (one time series repeated for all states
CPI factor - share of a 2001 dollar represented by prices in other years. All other variables are in nomicnal terms.
