Title: An Application of Line-labeling and other Scene-analysis Techniques to the Problem of Hidden-line Removal
Author: Lavin, Mark A.
Publisher: MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
Issue Date: 1974-03
Abstract: The problem of hidden-line drawings of scenes composed of opaque polyhedra is considered. The use of Huffnan labeling is suggested as a method if simplifying the task and increasing its intuitive appeal. The relation between the hidden-line problem and scene recognition is considered. Finally, an extension to the hidden-line processor, allowing dynamic viewing of changing scenes, is suggested. That process can be made far more efficient through the use of Change-Driven Processing, where computations on unchanging inputs are not repeated.
