Abstract
The Program in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) teaches future scientists and engineers to engage their work's social and cultural dimensions at the highest levels. This education sets MIT apart from the numerous engineering schools worldwide that turn out technical specialists. The STS program continues to distinguish itself as the leading department and graduate program of its kind in the United States.
