Abstract
Measurements of the total and differential cross sections dσ/dpTB [d delta / d p superscript B subscript T] and dσ/dyB [d delta / d y superscript B] for B+ [B superscript +] mesons produced in pp collisions at √s=7 [square root of s = 7] TeV are presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.8 pb-1 [pb superscript -1] collected by the CMS experiment operating at the LHC. The exclusive decay B+→J/ψK+ [B superscript + → J / psi k superscript +], with J/ψ→μ+μ- [J / psi → mu superscript + mu superscript -], is used to detect B+ [B superscript +] mesons and to measure the production cross section as a function of pTB [p superscript B subscript T] and yB [y superscript B]. The total cross section for pTB>5 [p superscript B subscript T greater 5] GeV and |yB|<2.4 [bracket y superscript B bracket less than 2.4] is measured to be 28.1±2.4±2.0±3.1 μb [mu b], where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the last is from the luminosity measurement.
