Abstract
Significant cuts to the department budget-consistent with Institute-wide actions-provided a challenging backdrop to the everyday functions of the department, given (a) the department's lack of a dedicated endowment, and (b) the department's commitment to uphold (indeed grow) needed student financial support. As reported to our Visiting Committee in April 2026, our work in the past year remained steady despite these challenges. Each of these reflects the department's core strength at the intersection of MIT's culture of research, and deep experience in design and architectural education.
