Abstract
In April 1995, Don Schneider, President of Schneider National Inc. (SNI), described how the trucking business had changed during his 35 years with the company: At first customers simply said, "Ship this by rail; ship this by truck." Now, a Chrysler, for example, turns over all its distribution logistics to Schneider and just tells them to make sure things get there at the cheapest possible price. This is the trend. It's not only moving loads anymore, but it's actually managing the movement of loads.
