T Motorsports is a FSAE Electric team at MIT that designs, manufactures, and tests electric formula-style racecars to compete in an annual collegiate competition. The cooling system for the Model Year 19 vehicle must provide adequate cooling to the motors and motor controllers, meet power consumption requirements dictated by the low voltage battery, and minimize system mass. Fluid modelling and benchtop testing were used to select the most suitable pump, fan and radiator. Tube routing and mounting design also have to allow for serviceability. With the use of a cooling test bench, a flow architecture was developed, and components were modified and tested to meet specifications.en_US
