Use of technology has been shown to help older adults feel higher levels of happiness and reduced loneliness through increased interaction with others. In this paper, we introduce JiboChat, an application embedded into Jibo, a social robot that live and interact with users in their homes. JiboChat will allow older adults to communicate and stay connected with family and friends through a natural voice interface - a more familiar paradigm without a steep learning curve for individuals less acquainted with technology. In our discussion, we will explore the implementation of JiboChat, as well as the experiments we anticipate this technology will allow.
