| dc.description.abstract | The gooseneck of MIT Sailing’s classic Herreshoff sailboat Mashnee recently failed. A failure analysis was conducted, and the failure mode identified. Steps were taken to mitigate this failure in a redesign of the gooseneck geometry, and the subsequent patternmaking, sandcasting, and finish machine was completed. | |
