dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, I make a case for challenging categorical thinking and draw upon non-human perspectives as a starting point to propose a pre-linguistic root to categorization by situating the concept of categorization into a sensory paradigm. Later I highlight a selection of 3 artistic projects that look at human-non-human relationships, sensory augmentation, and bacterial consent to question methodologies of inquiry in relating beyond the human category. In conclusion I present my thesis exhibition, Poetics of Inquiry, as a meditation on subjectivity to explore how artistic research can offer an entry point into thinking beyond categorization. This thesis also attempts to situate my practice within a limited base of references as a contribution towards the vast discourse by fellow knowledge producers within the field of Art, Culture, and Technology. | |
