Almost all atomic physics experiments rely on precise alignment of lasers. For example, optical fields are used to cool, control, and image atoms in neutral atom arrays. In this thesis, we present a design for mirrors actuated by servos that allow the precise, repeatable alignment of lasers in free space optical setups. We then apply these actuated mirrors to automate fiber coupling, where laser beams are coupled from free space into a fiber waveguide. We present the theory of fiber coupling and use experimental data on the fiber coupling landscape to develop an accurate digital twin. Insights from the combination of the digital twin and experimental data are used to develop a fast and effective algorithm for automated fiber coupling.
