Here, we report an intrinsically disordered MOF in the MOF-74 family,
Mg2x(as-dobpdc) (as-dobpdc4 = 30
,4-dioxidobiphenyl-3,40
-dicarboxylate). Despite the absence of crystallinity, this material exhibits
local ordering consistent with that of its crystalline isomers, maintains
porosity, and exhibits a high density of open metal sites.
