GMIS (Generalized Management Information System) is a set of tools
for building information systems. These tools include a flexible data
management capability, various modeling and analytical capabilities.
Facilities for on line queries and execution as well as facilities for multi-
user access to a data base. These tools have been applied to produce
a facility (NEEMIS, New England Energy Management Information System)
for energy planning and analysis within New England.
This manual's purpose is to be a primer for using GMIS and the
NEEMIS facility. For motivation and overview of the research involved
in GMIS, see "GATIS - An Experimental System for Data Management and
Analysis", by J. Donovan and H. Jacoby. For a complete description of
the facility, see GMIS User's Guide.
