This paper presents a methodology for selecting a site on the MIT campus for a visible solar photovoltaic installation. Visibility, solar exposure, advertising potential, aesthetics, interactivity and direct or important functional use are indicated as the metrics by which to evaluate possible sites. Four installations are subsequently evaluated according to this methodology. Feasibility, performance, cost and safety features were discussed for each of the four options considered. A dual-axis tracking solar array in front of the student center appears to be the most attractive option for a new solar installation on campus.en_US
