dc.description.abstract | The question of public space in sprawl is largely ignored, even as sprawl becomes the contemporary reality for more and more of us. This thesis defines a theory of Indeterminate Public Form and proposes the use of computational media to define and enable new forms of public space in sprawl. In addition, this document puts this theory into practice through a speculative architectural design and a physical installation. Both projects use sound as an expressive architectural material, molded and composed with computational technologies. The goal is to demonstrate the ability of computational technologies to create participatory public spaces in less than ideal conditions. | en_US |
