Assignments

Short papers

Students will select any two classes on which they write papers, each 5-7 pages long (double spaced), illustrating with a current human rights issue from any part of the world. The discussion must highlight and take position on the key issues presented in the readings for those two weeks. As such, the papers involve both full familiarity with the readings as well as background preparation on a current issue.

Final paper

For undergraduates, the final paper will be a report not exceeding 15 pages (double spaced) on a human rights topic, which requires independent research. For graduate students, the final paper will be a critical research paper not exceeding 30 double-spaced pages. Paper topics are due on Week #11. The final paper is due at the end of the semester.
