Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean (ECCO)

DSpace is used for the purpose of archiving and referencing
important but unpublished documents related to the ECCO project
(and its follow-on projects).
ECCO [ http://www.ecco-group.org/] is a consortium formed by scientists at NASA/JPL, MIT/EAPS and UCSD/SIO under the National Ocean Partnership Program (NOPP). It intends to bring ocean state estimation from its current experimental status to that of a practical and quasi operational tool in support of programs such as GODAE and CLIVAR, for studying large-scale ocean dynamics, designing observational strategies, and examining the ocean's role in climate variability. The main task is to bring together a global GCM with existing global data streams to obtain the best possible estimate of the time evolving ocean circulation and related uncertainties.
