Abstract
The Information Technology portfolio of large firms consists of a myriad of information systems and technology. Within this portfolio, a significant contributor to business value is IT infrastructure when aligned with strategic intent. The large and long term nature of IT infrastructure means that these investments need to be made in anticipation of business developments. However, the strategic intent of firms is rarely expressed and communicated in sufficient detail to guide senior IT management to clearly identify infrastructure needs.
