The nature and characteristics of nuclear reactor transients induced by control rod motions are important to light-water reactor safety analyses. Rod motion influences both local neutron absorption rates and the local neutron spectra. Studies on specific systems suggest that accurate prediction of transients requires that both the absorption rate change and the spectral change are necessary to represent control rod motion.en
