| Title: | 5.76 Molecular Spectra and Molecular Structure, Spring 1996 |
| Author: | Field, Robert W. |
| Issue Date: | 1996-06 |
| Abstract: | Surveys modern research topics in physical chemistry. Introduction to four or five research areas of current interest. Topics vary from year to year and may include the following: advanced statistical and quantum mechanics, molecular dynamics, nanostructures and mesoscopic materials, high resolution and ultra fast laser spectroscopy, atmospheric, environmental and surface science, and magnetic resonance. Description from course home page: The goal of this course is to illustrate how molecular structure is extracted from a spectrum. In order to achieve this goal it will be necessary to: master the language of spectroscopists; develop facility with quantum mechanical models; predict the relative intensities and selection rules; and learn how to assign spectra. |
