Take Home Final Exam

The final exam is worth 15% of the grade for the course.

Write a thought piece for a small group of recently appointed CEO’s of mid-sized companies who have gathered secretly to get a crash course in “how we should think about IT in business”.

They represent a variety of industries, all say they sense that IT is important, but are unclear as to exactly what the different aspects of IT are and the manifestations of it (from their own proprietary investments in systems, to the Internet, to industry-disruptive digitations, etc.). They believe a good step would be a kind of definitional paper, the different faces of IT as manifested in business use, with illustrations from your experience, this course, and your view of the future as it relates to IT. A model relating these different aspects of IT to each other and to such things as organization, strategy, culture, and change could also be useful. Several of them indicate they may want to hire you as a consultant if they find the paper of sufficient quality and clarity.

5-10 pages, double spaced.
