| dc.description.abstract | The spread of COVID-19, which is caused by SARS-CoV-2, an enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus, was declared a global pandemic on March 11, 2020, and the virus has infected millions of individuals and led to hundreds of thousands of deaths. One of the main approaches used to mitigate the spread of the virus has been to institute stay-at-home orders and close all non-essential businesses. These closures do not include pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, which are conducting essential work to rapidly develop and manufacture new treatments and vaccines to fight the pandemic as well as continuing to provide a steady supply of life-saving medicines to patients. | en_US |
