| dc.description.abstract | This research develops the diagnostic component of an interactive system for providing expert advice for the diagnosis, therapy and ongoing management of patients with acid-base and electrolyte disturbances. We have developed a hierarchic representation of a patient's illness which unifies the known facts about the patient, their suspected interrelationships, the hyptheses and how hypotheses account for various known and hypothesized facts.
