It has been 50 years since the foundation of the Materials Research Society (MRS), and as we look back, we recognize the great impact the Society has had on materials research around the globe. This is no accident, as MRS has, since its inception, played a strategic role in driving innovation at the frontiers of materials research, via its publications, thought leadership and discourse, and of course the twice-yearly meetings. Over the years, MRS has broadened its publication portfolio and innovated in a number of directions, including via the creation of the new Impact section of MRS Bulletin, and an increased focus on broader societal contexts in which fundamental materials research is placed.en_US
