Particle cosmology is among the hottest of hot topics in physics today. The field investigates the smallest units of matter and their role in determining the shape and fate of the entire universe. In recent years the field has received as much as half a billion dollars from the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and NASA; it has become a staple topic for popular science writing and NOVA television specials. Almost two new preprints on the topic are posted to the world’s central electronic physics preprint server (arXiv.org) every hour of every single day.en_US
